HIKING
Hiking in South Tyrol means experiencing unique landscapes, varied routes and green, sunny valleys.
The Waalwege in Merano and its surroundings are a wonderful way to get to know the wonderful nature of the country and to discover wonderful viewpoints. The irrigation channels were originally created to irrigate the fields. They still have this function today and in addition, along the whales extraordinary footpaths have been created, which are mostly suitable for inexperienced people and children.
Several theme paths through forests or meadows invite you to discover the beauty of the cultural landscapes of South Tyrol in a variety of ways.
Experienced hikers should not miss a day trip to the Spronser Lake District. To the Seebersee under the Timmelsjoch, on the other hand, it is almost just a walk. Impressive however, how it lies at the foot of the Granatkogel.
VACATION BY BIKE
On two wheels you can get further, especially with the e-bike. Travelling the holiday region of South Tyrol by bike is a pleasure thanks to the good network of cycle paths. Varied, comfortable and yet sporty, you can cycle in Merano and surroundings on well-surfaced valley paths.
Particularly popular are the cycle path along the river Passer to St. Leohnhard and the cycle path along the ancient Via Claudia Augusta: starting in the upper Vinschgau Valley, at Lake Resia, the cycle path runs downhill to Merano and from there along the Adige cycle path to Bolzano.
